Mikuna is a brand that was founded by Ricky Echanique, a fifth-generation farmer from Ecuador. Ricky's journey began when he faced health and digestion issues while living in Santa Barbara. He set out to find a better form of plant-based nutrition, which led him back to Ecuador and to Chocho, the "Andean super protein." Chocho is an ancient lupin that has been harvested by Andean farmers for thousands of years.
Mikuna is dedicated to sharing Chocho with the world and supporting local farmers through education and fair trade programs. They believe in making a positive impact on both the local community and the environment. Their protein powders are made from clean, single-source plant protein and are grown at elevations of 11,000-14,000 feet in the Andes Mountains.
Mikuna's mission extends beyond providing nutritious plant-based products; they also strive to practice regenerative agriculture for a sustainable future. They believe that regenerative practices have the potential to improve soil health, support farming communities, and nourish people with wholesome food.
Through their commitment to sustainability and their use of ancient, nutrient-dense ingredients like Chocho, Mikuna aims to empower individuals to make positive changes in their lives and contribute to a healthier planet.
